Alicia (Swedish: Alissa; Finnish: Aliisa) is The Witch's granddaughter and a witch in training and develops several magic skills, most notably walking on water, underwater breathing, and lightning speed, which creates a powerful wind that blows everything she passes by. Alicia is young, and she dresses in grey, and her greatest dream is to become a certified witch. Alicia is a good friend of the Moomins, but her grandmother wants Alicia to pay more attention to her studies rather than spend her time playing with them. Alicia still manages to escape to meet with her friends.

Like the Witch, she is exclusive to the Moomin (1990 TV series) anime and does not appear in the original stories or comics by Tove Jansson yet is meetable at Moomin World.

Moomin[]

The Witch[]

Alicia is seen almost immediately at the beginning of the episode. Moomin, Snork Maiden, Little My, Snufkin and Sniff go on a walk before the winter and meet her on the road. Alicia is seen a second time at the end of the episode when she goes to fetch water from the river.

Christmas Is Coming[]

The Moomins go on a trip before Christmas, meeting up with Alicia and the Witch.

The Midwinter Bonfire[]

Alicia is seen in this episode. She is seen at the outset, through a dream which Moomin has in which he flies with Little My. The second time is when the episode moves into the Forest of Witches. Alicia really wants to fly, and while she cannot actually do so, the Witch creates a levitation spell so that she stays in the air. The third time she is seen is when she skis to meet Moomin at Moominhouse but finds he isn't there. Alicia is seen for the fourth time when, again, she is skiing. She runs into the Groke and cries out for help, but Moomin manages to scare the groke away. Alicia appears once again when she visits Moomin and the Snork with Too-Ticky. Moomin, Alicia, Snork, and Too-Ticky then go to watch the bonfire. The final time Alicia is seen is when she says goodbye at last to the Moomins and skiis home.

The Spell[]

Alicia is seen when she visits Moominhouse, in order to see Moomin and his friends. When Snufkin tells her that the Moomin family doesn't wake up, she gets really angry with her Grandma and asks her to lift the spell on them. She promises not to go to Moominvalley anymore if that allows them to wake up. After they wake up, Moomin and the others visit Alicia to thank her. Alicia apologizes and says she can't play with them anymore, as she promised to her Grandma, but Moomin tells her that she only promised not to go to Moominvalley; which means they can still see each other in the forest. The episode ends with them all playing together.

Things That Go Bang in the Night[]

Alicia is seen only once when she walks with Moomin and Snufkin. They meet the Witch in the Forest, where she sells them a bucket containing a variety of plants.

The Solar Eclipse[]

Alicia is seen when she comes to stay at the Moominhouse to watch the solar eclipse whilst her grandmother departs for the Lonely Mountains in order to obtain more power. She then later goes to her grandmother's aid and helps to bring her to Moominhouse to recover, after falling off her broomstick.

The Hot Spring[]

Alicia is going to visit the Moomins again, and on the road, she encounters Snufkin who she talks to at the hot springs. When 3 men came looking for hot springs to bring tourists into Moominvalley Alicia goes with Moomin and Snufkin into the woods, to discuss a plan with her grandmother about driving the men away so Moominvalley can keep it's peaceful and quiet atmosphere.

The Bubbles[]

Alicia is seen only once when she asks Moominpappa and Snufkin to find the witch, to rescue Moomin, Snorkmaiden and Little My, when they get blown into the skies in bubbles

Witch-Walking[]

In this episode, Alicia learns a new trick by the Witch; how to walk on water. While on her way to show Moomin the trick, Alicia learns another trick and starts becoming faster and faster as she runs, so fast that she creates a powerful wind everywhere she goes and almost runs over Sniff. Later, when Alicia takes the Moomins down to the lake to demonstrate her trick to walk on water, Little My asks her whether she can swim before she tries to walk on water, to which Alicia replies that she does not know how, but insists everything is alright and she knows what she is doing. Alicia then walks over to the centre of the lake without any trouble, much to the suprise and amusement if the Moomins. She later walks out onto the sae and meets up with Snufkin and Mr Hemulen who are fishing.

The Phoenix[]

Alicia comes to stay with the Moomins at Moominhouse for the night, while the Witch travels to see the volcanoes. She is able to communicate with an injured phoenix and gets everyone in Moomvalley build a bonfire to help it regenerate.

Moomin and the Dolphin[]

Alicia uses her ability to walk across the water once again. She also learns how to breath under the water and later saves Moomin from permanently becoming a fish after her grandma gives him the wrong spell after visiting the depths of the ocean with a dolphin.

A Wonderful Present[]

Alicia saves Thingumy after he falls into a river, before taking him to Moominhouse. She volunteers to keep watch on the sining flower present he and Bob where giving to the Moomins until it begins to grow.

The Fabulous Emerald[]

Alicia is first seen looking out the window at a huge hailstone storm which destroys Mr Hemulen's garden, putting him in deep depression. The second time Alicia is seen is when Moomin and Snufkin came to ask for her and her grandmother for help so that they can save the Hemulen's garden, but because Alice is not yet a fully developed witch and her grandmother is hurt from hailstones, they are unable to nable to help. Snufkin then realises the Hobgoblin is their only chance and asks Alicia is she and her grandmother can summon him.

The Great Race[]

In this episode, she and her grandmother comes to visit Moominhouse, curious about a balloon they saw in the sky which was piloted by Mr Brisk. The Witch soon starts a rivalry with the Mr Brisk: which is better, her flying broom or his hot air balloon? They decide to have a competition: The first to retrieve a particular flower from The Lonely Mountains and return wins. The Witch easily wins, while the Mr. Brisk continues his journey without finishing, as he can't control his balloon. The Snork then reveals his flying ship. They both watch as he first struggles to raise it off the ground, almost hitting her and The Witch, but in the last second manages to raise the ship, finally succeeding, with everyone on the ground looking on in joy.

Going South[]

The last episode in the series in which Alicia is actually seen. She is first seen when she says she wants to help Moomin and the Snork fly their aircraft, but the Witch refuses to allow it. Alicia is seen shortly before the end of the episode where she says that she will see the Moomins again come spring. Alicia is seen for one final time when she flies away with the Witch, and she sees the Snork piloting the aircraft to the south. In the end, Alicia and the Witch arrive at a cave where another mysterious witch grants Alicia her own broom at last.
